Everybody wants a piece of Digg’s frontpage. A sudden burst of traffic. Potential tons of backlinks. A long term success can be achieved ‘overnight’. Everybody love quick fix. :)

So, here’s a simple and ‘doable’ guide to get digged.

1. Write ‘Diggable’ Post

Copyblogger has the best tips. Write a compelling headline. Those ‘How-To’ guides. The ‘Top-Ten’ list. The ‘10 things why you should…’. Link-bait style rules. Yeah. Should be easy, right?

Wrong. Head it to digg homepage and you will notice most ‘diggable’ style post/article never made it to the frontpage. And as a matter of fact, those posts in the digg’s frontpage are ‘anything but‘.

The thing is, the digg community has develop an immune system for those type of articles. They get that type of post/article all the time that you may increase your chances of getting digg by not writing like them.

Success Rate: 1%

2. Hire An Expert

Link building master, Andy Hagans said you should. Yeah. I know you should. Forget all the frustration, and let the right man handle your work.

Stuntdbl Linkbait service : USD$5000
SEOMoz’s Linkbait development service: USD$20,000
Andy Haganns - Linkbaiting service: USD$4995

Success Rate: 50% ( with a burnt hole in your pocket )

3. Bribe The Users

I thought this was not possible until lately. Usersubmitter, a gateway between users and submitters, allows you to pay users to digg your URL.

The setup fee is $20, and $1 per digg. It takes around 60 diggs within 24 hours to get to the frontpage, 80 for more assurance. So do the math, and it’s $100 per digg. Not a bad deal right?

Again, not likely. Firstly, 80% of digg frontpage story are selected randomly. Secondly, even if you got in the frontpage, there will be not much effect if your story is a snub. They come, they read a bit, and they leave. And you will wonder why there are no link love or recurring visitors.

Success Rate: 20% (and challenging your ‘moral flexibility’)

So, there you go. Good luck in getting digg, and even if you don’t, it’s still not the end of the world. :)

Nice post. Well, Digg will not take it easy if any Tom, Dick and Harry can open a site like UserSubmitter to game Digg. UserSubmitter was not able to prevent users from getting their accounts disabled and it shut down few days ago. Their site exists, but they are not accepting new URL submissions. There is another service called spikethevote coming up to cheat Digg.

Hi there,

Indeed, Digg is the hardest of all to ‘game’(*wink at other social bookmarking service). and probably provides the most traffic.

http://spikethevote.com/ looks interesting (and evil)
